btn on electricity

the world is separated into 2 different substances insulators and conductors. insulators hold electrons tightly where as conductors hold their electrons loosely. glass, ceramic objects and silk are just some of the materials that insulate electricity.

i understand that their are 2 different types of electricity current and static and that there are 2 different substances insulators and conductors.

i didn’t really understand how the machine worked so i guess that my question is how exactly did the machine work.

science adaptations

Adaptations = Living things have structural features and adaptations that help them survive in their environment.

I learnt that animals have many adaptations in different environments. Salt water crocodiles are cold blooded. They stay still in one spot to keep heat. They also stay still to camouflage. Salt water crocodiles can go without food for more then 12 months.

In adaptations I would like to learn more about what makes the animals adapt to the area. Is it the evolution over time? Is it how they were born from the start? How long does it take for them to adapt to different climates?

B.T.N

In the old day’s soldiers actually wanted to get caught by police. Because a soldier life was boring and some soldiers were home sick. So what they did was they would steal something and purposely get caught. 2 soldiers stole something and purposely got caught. Once soldiers serve their time in jail they can go back to normal life which to them looks easier. Except Governor Darling wanted to make an example out of the 2 men. He made their punishment much worse. Francis Forbes was the first Chief justice in new south wales. One of his jobs was to make sure that Australian laws were not like English unacceptable laws. Why were the English laws unacceptable?  Francis Forbes talked to Governor Darling but Governor Darling still wanted to make an example out of the men. He said the men had to walk around the street for 7 years in chains. The iron chains are torture the prisoners could not stand properly and could not walk properly. 1 of the men got extremely sick. His stomach bloated and his arms and legs started to swell. He had to go to the jails hospital where they removed the chains. 5 days later he died in agony. Monitor and the Sydney gazette defend the Governor and say that the prisoner was ill. The thing was just forgotten till WC went worth decided to remind people gain. The death of the prisoner becomes went worth’s war craft and it entangled Governor darling for years. I understand that back then prisoners got tortured but now they just go to jail. my personal opinion is that i think that the Governor should of got tortured because he made someone die

in 1787 the English left Portsmouth and arrived in Australia. the reason was that here were so many people doing the wrong. including children. that didn’t have enough room in their prisons for everyone to fit in. so they turned to making really harsh rules. like being hanged because you stole. but they couldn’t hang everyone. so what did they do? you ask. one thought they had was transportation. Britain had many colonies so they thought they could put them there. like places in America and Africa. but that didn’t work after America turned against them. so they thought they could make a new colony in the land of new south wales. they had six ships with convicts, 2 naval ships and 3 full of food supplies. which meant that 11 ships went off to new south wales. Captain Arthur Phillip was chosen to lead the colony and he knew it was a big deal. now back to the start. the English left Portsmouth on the 13 of May 1787. on the 5 of august 1787 they arrived in Rio de Janeiro then they went to the Cape of Good Hope in Africa and eventually came to new south wales on 19 of January. Captain Arthur Phillip set a flag in a place called Sydney cove. aboriginals have lived there of thousands of years but the English didn’t care. this is different to the other video because the aboriginals didn’t know that the English were taking over the land. the aboriginals weren’t that smart they didn’t know what cows were and called the English “the boat people,” on the other hand the English knew everything and thought this is our land now and you need to get of it. i think the English are selfish and took someone else’s land but then on the other hand i probably wouldn’t be alive now or writing this reflection if it weren’t for them . how would the English feel if another country went and took over their land called it theirs? i understand now why we have Australia day and what it means.

BTN reflection

This video is about meteors, asteroids and comets and what the are.

comets are chunks of ice and dust from the colder places in the solar system. When comets get close to the sun the melt and give off gas that we see as a glowing trail.

Asteroids are made of rock or metal. There are millions of them in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter but some of them travel near earth.

meteoroids are small chunks of asteroid . Millions of them enter the earths atmosphere every days. When they do we call them meotors. A shooting star is actually a meteor.

i wonder when the earth will get hit with a really big meteor like the dinosaurs did? I wonder if it might be in my life time?

i under stand that we are not the only thing in the solar system and we shouldn’t take it for granted.

solar system reflection

our solar system has a big star in the middle called the sun. 8 planets orbit the sun, as well as a few dwarf planets and androids. the 8 planets are divided into 2 groups of 4. the terestrial planets are mercury, venus, earth and mars. and the gas giants planets are jupitor. saturn, uranus and neptune.

mercury is the smallest and lightest of all planets.mercury does not have an atmosphere or a moon. the lowest temperature in mercury is 427 degrees c and the highest temperature is -173 degrees c.

venus is the brightest planet and and the hottest. the atmospheric presure is 92 times higher than the earths. venus never cools lower than 437 degrees c. it also does not have a moon.

the earth is so far the only planet with life on it. the minimum temperature is -89 c and the highest 58 c. this lets there be water on it. the earth has a moon called luna

mars is the second smalest planet. the minimum temperature is -133 c and the maximum teperature is 27 c. its olympus monds is the highet mountain in the solar system. it is more than 3 times higher than mount everest. mars has 2 small moons.

jupitor is the largest and most massive planet is the solar syatem. the min temperature is -150 c and the max temp is -93 c. jupitor has 67 moons

saturn is the second largest planet in the solar syatem. the max temperature is -168 degrees c and the min temperature is -120 degrees c. if you had a big bath saturn would float in it. saturn has a very vsible ring around it. it has 62 moons.

uranus is one of the coldest planets in our solar system. the min temperature is -243 degrees c and the max temperature is -370 degrees c. the interesting thing is the contrast is tilted side ways and not straight like other planets. it has 27 moons.

neptune is so far away from the sun that one neptune year is 164 earth years. the min temperature is -201 degrees c. the max temperature is -346 degrees c. neptune has 14 moons.

if you compare all 8 planets jupiter. jupiter has 70 percent of the planets mass. in fact one of jupitors moons is bigger than mercury. jupitor helps the earth because most of the dangerously large androids that are about to hit earth all get pulled to jupitor. but even jupitor is a dwarf compared to our sun. jupitor only makes up 99.86 percent of the sun.

one day our solar system will die. the sun will start dying and mercury venus and maybe earth will start dying too. the sun will get so hot that it will burn the earths crust. then it will keep growing until it either swallows earth or makes it a pool of lava. once the sun burns all of its mass it will shrink, burn for a few billion years and eventually disapear.

why will the sun shrink? would neptune melt because it is made of ice? i understand that the universe is a really big place.

100 word challenge (the flame flickered and then went out)

as the movie came to an end the flame of the candle flickered and eventually went out later i went to my bed and fell asleep. ‘BANG’ i woke in fright. i got out of bed and started walking. i went to the living area, the dining room, the bathroom , the  study, the laundry. Finally i came to the kitchen. I looked in all the draws and cabinets till i came to the pantry. i slowly opened the door. i looked around the pantry and saw a light blue mouse the exact same one in the movie i was watching before.

This is my buddy revision. My buddy is Darcey from Lieghs class. Shirley and I are working together to improve her learning. We go to our buddys class (or they come to our class) every second Thursday. We do an activity with them and then eat lunch with them. On the first session me and Shirley had to write a letter to our buddy ( so did every one else). I wrote about myself and drew a picture of rainbows ,unicorns ,flowers and fairies. Well we are having our second buddy session very soon and I hope you enjoed real.

Why I Should Be In The SRC

Introduction

Dear Class

Hello I have written this piece because I want to have a chance to be on the SRC. I have heard that being on the SRC is a very responsible job and requires people to say their ideas. In this piece I will give you a few reasons why I should be in the SRC and some information about me.

My Responsibility and organisation

People can rely on me such as, parents, teachers and friends because I am responsible and organised. After school I have a schedule for my chores that I do every day. Most of the time I think ahead and make the right choices. I help kids that are younger then me when I am at Slovak school (which is where I go to get better at my language)

My Leadership

As you already know I go to a place called Slovak school over the weekend. Me and my cousin Emma are the helpers there. We help the little kids spell and pronounce words that they don’t understand. We help them learn the moves of our cultural dancing too.

My Confidence

Lastly I think I am confident most of the time and have a clear voice when I am speaking. My mum really helps me with my confidents because she does a lot of speeches for her work and used to be a teacher for adults. In fact, she listened to me when I was practising this speech and gave me advice of things I could work on.

Conclusion

I hope you now understand why I should be a SRC and thank you for listening my SRC speech and I hope you liked it.
